For those of you who know me, my Number One won’t really come as much of a surprise. The 21 year old from Warwickshire first burst onto my radar at the beginning of the Summer with her début single ‘Middle of the Bed’. The track has a memorising break-down that formed makes Lucy Rose so special.

Lucy Rose has in abundance many great qualities which the Popular Music scene is terribly missing. She’s an artist with a charming and engaging personality. In fact, she really relates to her wider audience as a whole, for she loves tea, hates cheese, and it is even rumoured that she was even planning on studying geography. (I say rumoured because the University of Exeter currently lists her as a PHD student)

Grit, determination, and a pinch of luck took her on a gap-year to the London scene, where she happened to bump into Jack Steadman from Bombay Bicycle Club, and she has really honed her sound since. She’s self-taught guitar and has little other influences, but her song-writing is incredibly warm; sticking to an acoustic set-up backed by cello and percussion.

Lucy Rose is in the middle of recording her début album and it cannot come soon enough. Yes, Lucy is unlikely to dominate 2012, and will more than likely be less successful than any of the artists tipped here, but anyone that doesn’t have her music in their life is seriously missing out.

Here is the video for her début single and, if you enjoy it, a link to an incredible remix by Ferdie Kingsley that makes the breakdown sound even more magical.
